PUBLIC NOTICE

UPDATED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR TOURISTS VISITING GEORGIA

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kyiv, Ukraine (resident in Vilnius, Lithuania)and to the Republics of Latvia and Estonia, and Georgia, wishes to inform all Nigerians intending to visit Georgia of the revised immigration policy of the Georgian government concerning tourists.

 

2.       In line with the Law of Georgia on Tourism, the following requirements will apply to all tourists entering Georgia effective 1st January 2026:

 

i) Mandatory Health and Accident Insurance

All tourists must present a valid health and accident insurance policy upon entry. The policy may be in physical or electronic form and must be available in Georgian or English.

 

ii) Duration of Coverage

The insurance policy must cover the entire duration of the tourist’s stay in Georgia, including both the arrival and departure dates.

 

iii) Minimum Insurance Coverage

A Georgian or foreign insurance company must issue the policy and provide coverage of at least 30,000 GEL.

 

iv) Required Information on the Insurance Policy

The insurance document must clearly include the following details:

  • Parties to the insurance contract
  • Covered territory
  • Subject matter of insurance
  • Start and end dates of coverage
  • Insured risks
  • Insurance sum (limits)
  • Insurance premium, including place and terms of payment

 

v) Exemptions

The following categories of persons are exempt from the mandatory insurance requirement:

  • Holders of diplomatic and special visas
  • Holders of diplomatic, official, service, and special passports
  • Accredited staff of diplomatic missions, consular posts, international organisations, and equivalent offices, as well as their accredited family members
  • Persons whose entry into Georgia is governed by international treaties and agreements of Georgia
  • Drivers engaged in international road freight and passenger transport

 

3.       The Embassy advises all intending travellers to comply with these updated requirements to ensure smooth entry into Georgia.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kyiv, Ukraine (resident in Vilnius, Lithuania) wishes to inform all Nigerian nationals residing in Ukraine, Lithuania, Georgia, Latvia, and Estonia that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is currently undertaking critical upgrades to its systems. These enhancements, while necessary for long-term service improvement, may temporarily affect the passport production process.

2. The Mission, therefore, wishes to advise applicants, especially those traveling from outside Vilnius for biometric acquisition, to factor in the possibility of extended processing times. The acquisition and documentation process may span beyond the normal waiting period, and applicants are encouraged to plan their travel and accommodation accordingly.

3. The general public is reminded that consular services at the Embassy are available strictly from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm , Mondays to Thursdays only . All applicants must book appointments in advance via the Embassy's official website before visiting the Chancery.

4. In addition, applicants are also advised to come along with copies of their uploaded documents, including the certificate of identification from their State/Local Government of origin, please. Applicants are to note that, in line with this new government policy, passports are now produced in Nigeria and thereafter forwarded to the Embassy via courier service for distribution.

5. The Embassy sincerely regrets any inconvenience these disruptions may cause and ensures all applicants that efforts are underway to ensure a timely resolution.

PUBLIC NOTICE
CHANGES TO LATVIAN IMMIGRATION POLICY

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kyiv, Ukraine (resident in Vilnius, Lithuania) wishes to inform all Nigerian citizens residing in the Republic of Latvia or intending to travel through Latvia that the Latvian government has introduced new immigration procedures, which came into effect on 1 st September 2025 .

2. Under the amended immigration regulations, all third-country nationals, including Nigerian citizens who do not hold a Latvian visa or residence permit, are now required to submit an Electronic Travel Declaration (ETD) prior to arrival in Latvia. This requirement applies to both direct entry and transit through Latvian territory.

3. The Electronic Travel Declaration (ETD) must be completed online via the official Latvian government portal and submitted at least 48 hours before arrival. Travelers will be required to provide details such as the purpose and duration of their visit, accommodation arrangements, travel route, and relevant personal background information. Upon submission, travelers will receive an automatic confirmation email, which must be retained as proof of compliance. It is important to note that failure to submit the ETD or providing inaccurate information may result in denial of entry or other administrative consequences.

4. All Nigerian nationals are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with these new procedures and ensure full compliance before undertaking travel to or through Latvia.

CHANGE IN NIGERIAN DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATION FOR THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Kyiv, Ukraine (resident in Vilnius, Lithuania) wishes to inform the public and the Nigerian community in the Republic of Moldova that, following a review of Nigeria’s diplomatic representation and engagements, the concurrent accreditation of the Republic of Moldova will now be covered by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Bucharest, Romania.

2.      Accordingly, the Embassy in Bucharest will henceforth serve as the official channel for communication, coordination, and representation on all matters relating to bilateral relations, consular services, and assistance for Nigerians in Moldova.

                                                       CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING ENLISTMENT IN FOREIGN MILITARY FORCES

 

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Kyiv, Ukraine, wishes to draw the attention of Nigerian nationals residing in Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Moldova, and Georgia to the implications of enlisting in foreign military forces.

2. While the Embassy recognizes the varied circumstances in which our citizens may find themselves while abroad, Nigerians contemplating military  enlistment are strongly encouraged to consider the legal frameworks that govern such decisions, both in Nigeria and in their respective host countries.  Enlisting in foreign military service may have significant implications for a citizen's immigration status and overall security, as there are specific international regulations on this practice with legal status consequences.

 

3. Beyond legal considerations, enlisting in foreign military service carries inherent risks, including those related to personal safety and future commitments. Such enlistment may affect residency rights, travel prospects, and career pathways. The Embassy strongly advises Nigerians residing in Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Moldova, and Georgia to carefully evaluate all aspects of foreign military enlistment before making any commitments.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Embassy wishes to inform that the Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the commencement of issuing the Enhanced  e-passport (B-series), the contactless passport processing system, and biometric visas at the Embassy of Nigeria in Kyiv, Ukraine, which is temporarily relocated to Vilnius, Lithuania.

2. In light of this development, Nigerians resident in Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia and Moldova will be able to process and receive the Enhanced e-passport (B-series), which comes in 34 and 66 pages for 5 – 10-year validity options, respectively.

 

3. Also, to be available is the contactless passport process system, which enables Nigerians to undertake the process of re-issuing their expired passports remotely, without having to visit the Embassy.

 

4. Similarly, the biometric Nigerian visa system for foreign nationals and foreign residents of the aforementioned countries seeking to visit Nigeria for various purposes will also be available at the Embassy of Nigeria in Vilnius, Lithuania.
